8.2 Consulting AG intensifies its efforts in production supervision at the "EnBW He Dreiht" offshore wind farm
With the start of installation of in total 64 wind turbines, 8.2 Consulting AG's inspection activities are entering the critical phase
The first wind turbine at the "EnBW He Dreiht" wind farm is installed! April 24, 2025 marks the "beginning of the end" of the global production work for Germany's largest offshore wind farm currently under construction some 110 kilometres west of Heligoland in the North Sea.
A milestone in the technological progress of the offshore industry has been reached with the V236-15.0 MW wind turbine, which is Vestas’ largest turbine available on the market with a rated power of 15 MW.
Since the project's inception, 8.2 Consulting AG as an independent consulting and inspection company has been entrusted with ensuring high quality standards during the production phase. 8.2 Consulting AG has not only over 15 years of experience in inspecting offshore turbines but also a unique prospective on manufacturing as it has accompanied various generations of offshore wind turbines on their journey to series production
For "EnBW He Dreiht," which means "He Rotates" in Low German, 8.2 inspectors have been involved along the entire supply chain of individual components since March 2024. The inspectors have been conducting quality audits across the global supply chain including cast parts and electrical components. 8.2 Consulting AG is supported by specialists from the 8.2 Group who have specific expertise in coating, electrical engineering and bearing technology.
With the start of pre-assembly, activities were shifted to the Danish towns of Esbjerg and Munkebo. Since then, 8.2 Consulting AG has been permanently on-site with several inspectors up to six days a week to oversee pre-assembly and accompany the final walkdowns. The proximity of the pre-assembly sites and the high level of presence enable continuous monitoring of the manufacturing process, which culminated in the successful installation of the first turbine offshore at the end of April.
Lukas Müller, Offshore Team Leader and Project Manager at 8.2 Consulting AG, commented: "The teamwork on this project is fantastic, because everyone contributes and pulls together. The project is both rewarding and challenging. Together we overcome the challenges that arise with strong commitment and excellent, practical solutions. We are proud to contribute to the success of He Dreiht and thank our colleagues and EnBW for allowing us to support them in this exciting and groundbreaking project."
Helge Westphalen, Quality Assurance Manager Offshore at EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG adds:
“Having 8.2’s inspectors on our shop floor gives us uncompromising, real-time insight into product quality. Their mix of deep technical expertise and genuine enthusiasm turns routine checks into measurable improvements — they operate as an integral part of our team.”
The work in Denmark with the support of 8.2 Consulting AG will continue until spring 2026, when all 64 turbines will be completed and the offshore wind farm can live up to its name: "He rotates!"
